Since March 13, 2020 I’ve been working from home 100% of the time. Gone is the archival research, libraries, and in-person genealogy meetings.
It occurred to me that this work based at home is the life of my ancestors. The women were mostly wives and homemakers which is all done at home. Half of the men were farmers, obviously based on their property. And the other half of the men were miners and factory workers walking to work.
It strange to think that I have come full circle back to their life of independent work. Maybe this is just the way of the human cultures that we live in our family groups and do most of our productive work there. The pandemic stripped away a lot of my regular life in 2020 and left me with my ancestors’ lives.
